Happy Monday! Time for a picture break. I need me some birds.
Before further (kid-caused, technology-caused, or other-issue-caused) ado -- herons! Great blue herons, to be exact. Fishing, eating, glaring, and generally being awesome.
We love spotting Great Blue Herons near our home. A pair live at our local park and roam along the Rio Salado area. We also saw one at Kiwanis. So very cool.
Those are great photos! I love great blue herons, but I never thought of them as blue -- more grey than anything -- but your pictures highlight the blue.
For your absolutely breathtaking pictures, I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. I don't know what it is, either. But, it means I think your blog is one of the tops.
Kim, These shots are amazing. We live on a small lake and see blue herons every day, but I have never come close to taking a photo of the Herons as beautiful as yours. Would you mind sharing what equipment you use and how you were able to get these amazing shots. I'd love to know.

The third photo down, with a close up of a fish in his mouth, is that fishing line coming from the fish?
Proud Mama: I think I've seen some at those same areas!
jo(e): Thanks! The blue really does come out in the right light.
Cindy: I don't think so; it was covered in stringy vegetation and fresh from the water. I think it's just a wet slime-string. Appetizing, right?
